Remember that little business trip to Tennessee I took back in February? When my business cards arrived yesterday, it occurred to me that I never wrote about the food I ate while down in Knoxville! So, here's a quick recap of two of the meals I had.

A Meal with a View at Pulse Restaurant and Bar

45 Rockefeller Plaza, Third Floor

Finding lunch in Midtown can be a daunting task. Not because the neighborhood is lacking in restaurants or food trucks, but because the neighborhood is overflowing with options and usually teeming with people. If you're not navigating around those who work in Midtown, you're navigating around the tourists who want to gawk at the lights of Times Square or who want to people-watch and shop in Rockefeller Center or who want to stop in the middle of the sidewalk to snap pictures of the Chrysler Building or Bryant Park or the Empire State Building from Bryant Park.
Lunchtime can be a nightmare.

Featured Friday, Volume 1.1
The inaugural Featured Friday post is here! If you missed my announcement about this new series, it is my intention to choose a few posts from the list of blogs I follow and offer my thoughts about them -- what I learned, what I found enjoyable, what I found objectionable, etc. I want to share what I'm reading with others and to, hopefully, facilitate further discussion.

Southwestern Stuffed Baked Potatoes
When I successfully ran the Philadelphia Half Marathon (my first) last November, I honestly thought I'd be done with running for a while. Especially since the winter months were ahead of me and the biggest cause of stress while training (ie. being unemployed) had disappeared after I started my new job just after Christmas. But January rolled around and I knew something was missing. I needed to run.

Announcing "Featured Fridays"
Recently, I mentioned that I would no longer be publishing "How They Found My Blog" posts and that I would be announcing a new regular series on Friday. Considering Saturday is a mere five minutes away, I'll have to make this brief!
I know I'm not the only food blogger out there and that I don't exist in a bubble. Many have gone before me and many will follow. Because of that, I think it's vital to keep an eye on what other people are writing -- not only to stay informed, but also to gain new insights and new inspirations.

Brunch at Faces & Names with the Girls (and Christopher Walken)
161 West 54th Street
New York, NY 10019

I wish I could say that the brunch I had with my girlfriends at Faces & Names was one of the best I've ever had in New York. I wish I could say that the service was friendly and attentive and expedient. I wish I could say we were surrounded by patrons who appreciated the spirit of a weekend brunch. But I can't.

How They Found My Blog: It's Been Fun
The regular readers of Taste As You Go have probably grown accustomed to seeing a new "How They Found My Blog" post every Tuesday. As much fun as I've had posting some of the more interesting and unique keyword searches that have lead people to my blog, I know when a good thing has run its course. Therefore, it is time to announce that last Tuesday's "How They Found My Blog" post was the last of the series. As they say, "when one door closes, another one opens," and it's time to move on. With that in mind, I'll be announcing a new "regular series" on Friday.
Be sure to check back!

How To: Scramble Eggs
Up until recently -- and I mean within the past few months -- my scrambled eggs were edible but not memorable. Technically, yes, they were scrambled, but texturally, they were often overcooked and rubbery. No matter how often I tried to make the perfect pan of scrambled eggs, they came out the same. If flavor had also been an issue, I would have probably completely abandoned the idea of ever making scrambled eggs in my own kitchen again. But it wasn't until after I experimented with (and ate) dozens and dozens of eggs that I realized something.
I was doing it wrong.

You Can Call Me a Freelance Food Writer
Back in January, I announced on Twitter that I landed a freelance writing gig and that the position was food-related. I said no more about the subject until the beginning of February, when I received the first check that turned me into a paid freelance writer. Here it is, the beginning of March now, and it's only the third time I've mentioned anything about it. Why so hush-hush?
