As I was editing some photos on my Netbook, it occurred to me that I never wrote about the restaurants I visited back in June as part of my boyfriend's birthday celebrations. I hating wasting opportunities to share my eating adventures with my readers, so I'm going to post the pictures I took even though so much time has passed. Let's hope I'm better about writing about the food and restaurants I encounter on my upcoming trip to Austin after I get back!

Potato Salad, Just Like Mom Used to Make
Excuse me... I have a question...
Where the hell did the summer go?
I just reviewed my ever-filling schedule and realized that I'm leaving for Austin to visit my friend Kristina in a little over a week. Not only will this be my first trip to Austin, but it will also be my first trip to the state of Texas! Needless to say, I'm excited and am now officially counting down the days until I get on that plane.

Featured Friday, Volume 1.7
After a busy week at work, late nights spent tackling my presidential duties for Chi Omega, and a mid-week trip down to Pennsylvania for Musikfest, I'm forcing myself to put my feet up and relax tonight. Especially since I have a 9-mile marathon training run on the schedule tomorrow. So, it's the perfect time for me to write another Featured Friday post!

As a woman in New York City, I've been asked again and again whether my life resembles the lives that Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha led in Sex and the City. I'd love to be able to admit that I own at least ten pairs each of Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks, but I don't. And when it comes to having a calendar booked solid with back-to-back dates with men who are influentially rich and men who are richly influential, I don't have that either. For a long time, I was convinced that all I had in common with that fabulous foursome was the undeniable fact that I live and work in New York City.

Book Review: Georgia's Kitchen by Jenny Nelson - and a Giveaway!

Synopsis (provided by Gallery Books):
At thirty-three, talented chef Georgia Gray has everything a woman could want -- the top job at one of Manhattan's best restaurants; a posse of smart and savvy gal pals who never let her down; and a platinum-set, cushion-cut diamond engagement ring courtesy of Glenn, the handsome entertainment lawyer who Georgia's overbearing mother can't wait for her to marry. But when a bad review costs Georgia her job, and Glenn suddenly calls off her wedding, Georgia takes her bruised ego to Tuscany, where she sharpens her skills at a new trattoria and quells her longings with Italy's delectable offerings: luscious cheese, delicious wine and sexy Gianni, the owner of the vineyard next door. So when Gianni tempts Georgia to stay in Italy indefinitely, why can't she say yes? An appetite for something more looms large in Georgia's heart -- the desire to run her own restaurant in the city she loves. But having left New York with her career in flames, she'll need to stir up more than just courage if she's to realize her dreams and find her way home.
Despite the hopeful planning I did in late spring and the purchase of a new bathing suit in early summer, it's August, and I still haven't found my way to the beach. If I had, I would have packed my copy of Georgia's Kitchen, the debut novel by Jenny Nelson, a former editor and producer at iVillage.com, Vogue.com and Style.com, to read while lounging on the sand and soaking up the sun. Georgia's Kitchen (Gallery Books -- August 3, 2010) is the perfect summer read!
