If you were to ask my husband to describe some of my weaknesses, I'm pretty sure he'd tell you that I didn't have any. He'd say that I'm perfect... Then, after he wiped away the tears from laughing so hard, he might tell you that I'm no good with spatial relations.

And I'd agree with him.

I can't estimate distances. I need to measure things five times before I'm convinced. You should never trust me to cut something into even slices... Well, you get the picture.

So you can imagine why I'm thrilled that something like the BergHOFF Perfect Slice exists in the world. Described as a "non-stick bakeware and custom slicing system in one," the baking pan's measured markings make it next to impossible to cut pieces that are unequal.

All you need to do is line up the cutting device with the appropriate markings, and you're good to go!

But... did you catch what I said about it being next to impossible?

BergHOFF-Perfect-Slice-tasteasyougo.com

Yeah... Even with the pan's markings, I still had problems cutting pieces that were the same size. *sigh*

But let's not focus on my weaknesses or inabilities. Let's, instead, turn our attention to something else. Like these brownies. These decadent and delicious (and easy to make) Chocolate Chip Marble Brownies.

Cut and enjoy.

Like I said... easy!

Well, except for that whole cutting process... Guess I'll have to make a few more batches to improve my technique.

Recipe by Taste As You Go | Printable Recipe

Traditional marbled cream cheese brownies with the surprise of mini chocolate chips -- delicious!

Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
Bake Time: 35-40 minutes
Total Time: 45-55 minutes

INGREDIENTS
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (I used this)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and divided
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 1/3 cups sugar, divided
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan. (Even though my Perfect Slice pan is non-stick, I still greased it a little bit. Just to be sure nothing got stuck!)
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cocoa powder and the baking powder. Stir in 1/3 cup of the melted butter.
  3. Slowly pour in the boiling water and stir until the mixture thickens.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of the sugar, the eggs, and the remaining 1/3 cup of melted butter.
  5. Add the flour, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and the salt. Stir until completely combined.
  6. Stir in the mini chocolate chips and then pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  7. To prepare the cream cheese mixture, beat the cream cheese in a stand mixer (I use this one) or with a hand-mixer until smooth. Add the remaining sugar, egg, and vanilla and mix until blended.
  8. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter and cut through batter with a knife to create a marble effect.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before cutting and serving.
