Menu Plan: August 20 - August 26 {or Why We Hate the Weekends}

Looking for dinner inspiration? Here's what I've planned for dinner at our house this week!

Before we started our family, we lived for the weekend. The weekend meant sleeping in and rolling from one event to the next with little care. It also meant brunch outings and drinking coffee without needing to reheat it 12 times. It meant having a chance to recharge before jumping back into the grind of the workweek.

I can say without hesitation that our version of a weekend has changed since having kids. Sleeping in is a thing of the past. We don't commit to anything that interferes with naptime. With a toddler and an infant to tote along, brunch outings are rare... and we usually close out the weekend feeling more exhausted than we did when it started. The constant interaction with our two-year-old drains the energy out of us, and we have to dig deep to handle her enthusiasm while also caring for our seven-week-old.

It's fair to say that life on the weekend often feels chaotic. Like we're rushing around and going nowhere all at the same time. And, I have to be honest... I hate this feeling. I hate trying to get through the day-to-day feeling so unsettled. The weekend is turning into something to dread rather than something to look forward to.

I know this feeling is normal -- it has to be -- and that trying to establish any type of reliable routine is tough. That's why finding time for blogging on a somewhat regular basis is so important to me. Blogging is my way of controlling the chaos.

So, I'm pleased to present this week's menu plan on time and before the dinner hour. Without further ado, here's what's on deck for dinner at our house this week.
