I was provided the opportunity to try the Fall Seasonal Menu at P.F. Chang's China Bistro in Plymouth Meeting, PA at no cost to me. I did not accept monetary compensation for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

When I launched Taste As You Go back in 2008 (!), my friend Kym was one of my regular dining buddies as I set out to explore New York, one restaurant at a time. Although we both live in Pennsylvania, we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like now that I'm no longer based in New York (where she still works). So when the opportunity to try some of the items on the Fall Seasonal Menu at P.F. Chang's China Bistro came up, I immediately contacted Kym to see if she wanted to join me for a "dining adventure".

Luckily for me, Kym's always willing to come along as my "+1".

I was intrigued by the Crispy Korean Chicken Wings served "lollipop-style" with a house-made sweet and spicy red chili sauce and sprinkled with chopped scallions and a mixture of black and white sesame seeds. The chicken was definitely crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the sauce had the perfect level of heat for me.

But, while I liked the Asian twist on the classic Buffalo chicken wings, I'm not entirely sure what about the dish made it an obvious choice for a fall seasonal menu.

I had a hard time deciding what to order for my main dish (per usual), so I enlisted the help of our server and asked for his recommendation for either the Miso Chicken or the Vietnamese Noodles with Steak and Shrimp. He told me that the Miso Chicken was, by far, the more popular choice and that it was one of his personal favorites on the menu. Although everything about the noodle dish sounded delicious, I was afraid that the rice noodles seasoned with hoisin, Sriracha, cinnamon, and coriander and then wok-tossed with marinated flank steak, shrimp, and an assortment of vegetables would be too much for lunch. Instead, I went with the Miso Chicken and Brown Rice.

Any lingering spice that I had on my lips after eating the Crispy Korean Chicken Wings was quickly replaced by the sticky sweetness of the Miso Chicken's miso-tamarind sauce. Served with carrots, Asian mushrooms, bok choy, corn, and candied walnuts and topped with freshly chopped cilantro, the dish was well-balanced in terms of flavor, but it didn't leave any major impressions on me.  Perhaps that's because the Miso Chicken didn't scream "fall" to me either.

To round out our meal, Kym and I ordered some Caramel Apple Wontons to go with our coffee.

Finally! Fall!

Unfortunately, these dessert wontons were just okay. The apple filling had a delicately subtle cinnamon flavor, which was nice, but I think the wontons would have been lost without the caramel sauce that was drizzled on the plate.

In the end, Kym and I had a lovely lunch. But I think that was more so for the company than for the food.

The Fall Seasonal Menu is available at P.F. Chang's locations nationwide through the end of the year, so even though Christmas is right around the corner and it's starting to really feel like winter out there, you can still try the items on the special menu for a few more weeks.
