Although I'd never label myself a "city girl", there are moments when I miss my life in New York so much that it hurts. Especially when I think about the friends that I hardly get to see now that I'm no longer commuting up to Manhattan. But then there are moments when living in the Lehigh Valley just feels right.
I experienced one of those moments earlier this afternoon. Stephen and I had just finished eating at one of our favorite Sunday brunch spots, where we had bumped into a friend of ours that we hadn't seen in forever. It was too nice of a day to go back home and throw ourselves into our usual routine -- work for him, laundry for me -- so we decided to drive over to the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks on the former site of Bethlehem Steel to wander around for a bit.
We probably weren't even there for more than 30 minutes, but in that time, I felt settled. Like my life was on track for the first time in a long time. Maybe it's because Stephen and I are starting to feel comfortable in our own skin again after a year of marriage. Or maybe it's because finally finding a job has alleviated a lot of the stress and pressure I've been feeling about money. Regardless of the plans and dreams that we have for ourselves for the future, right now is feeling pretty darn good.
Maybe it's time we really got that dog that Stephen has always wanted. ;-)
