Feed Me Friday: October 24th
On "Feed Me Friday," I share the items in my feed reader that have inspired me or have caused me to pause and think.
It's been several months since my last Feed Me Friday post, and I've decided that I'm going to try and share these types of posts more regularly. I love sharing the things that I have been reading -- whether food-related or not -- that have sparked inspiration or motivation. After all, as a writer, it's imperative that I read anything and everything to stay on top of my own writing and to help me keep going when I've reached a point of writer's block or frustration. The simple act of reading can be just the thing to get me back on track.
Plus, I have a feeling that you guys enjoy these posts because they allow me to step outside of my own blog and share things I've found on other websites. ;-)
At any rate, here's what's been inspiring me lately.
Easy Roasted Mushrooms with Rosemary and Garlic
I absolutely love mushrooms, especially when sauteed in plenty of butter and garlic. But when I stumbled upon this recipe for Dara's recipe for roasted mushrooms, it occurred to me that I had never thought to roast the mushrooms before. Sounds so simple, right?
While I probably would just eat the mushrooms straight off the pan as soon as they came out of the oven (like Dara did!), I love her suggestion to toss them with pasta for a quick and healthy meal. Well... healthy outside of the butter I'd probably add to the dish. ;-)
10 Pasta Sauces to Freeze for Easy Weeknight Meals
Speaking of quick and healthy meals, I love this round-up of ten make-ahead/freezable pasta sauces on The Kitchn. As my pregnancy progresses and I come to terms with the changes that happen with the arrival of a new baby, I'm starting to bookmark recipes that are not only simple to prepare but are also freezer-friendly. Who knows whether I'll actually have time to cook from-scratch meals once the baby is here? I may as well start looking for ways to help myself in the kitchen, right?
20 DIY Pantry Staples That Are Even Better Than Store-Bought
My recipe for Homemade Taco Seasoning continues to be a popular one on Taste As You Go, and, within the past few months, I've been making a list of other items that I'd like to try making at home rather than buying at the store. This list of DIY pantry staples gave me some great ideas, so, of course, I had to bookmark it for reference later on.
