It's probably cruel of me to be talking about a burger joint on the first Friday of Lent, especially for those who abstain from eating meat on Fridays. I promise you that I'm not trying to be cruel. Instead, I'm viewing this review as a means suggesting where you should grab lunch this weekend, when it'll be perfectly okay to head to The Burgery Company in Emmaus, PA to order one of their specialty burgers and a satisfying, starchy side.

If you've never been to The Burgery Company before, then don't be surprised if you drive right by it the first time. The restaurant isn't exactly in a spot you'd expect, and it's set back from the road a little bit.

When you get there, you have the option of dining inside or, on a nice day, you can sit at one of the picnic tables they have set up on the side of the restaurant. Just keep in mind, this is a burger joint -- the decor and design is simple, casual, and completely unpretentious.

Green Terror Beef Burger - The Burgery Company - Emmaus, PA

If you're anything like me, then you may become instantly overwhelmed by the menu at The Burgery Company because all of the intriguing-sounding burgers they offer. You'll find a variety of proteins to choose from, including beef, prime rib, Kobe, bison, elk, venison, ostrich, lamb, turkey, chicken, pork, and fish. They even have two different veggie burgers to choose from!

I stuck to a relatively traditional burger and ordered the Green Terror ($8.99), a beef burger topped with bacon, cheddar, and barbecue sauce. The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked and I loved the slight spiciness from the barbecue sauce.

Total win.

Tater Tots - The Burgery Company - Emmaus, PA

As for a side, Stephen and I split an order of Tater Tots ($3.89) after deliberating back and forth about other options. (We were also considering the Sweet Potato Fries, Black & Tan O-Rings, and Corn Nuggets.) Ultimately, the tater tots won out, and they were quite delicious. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside... The Burgery Company makes tater tots just the way we like 'em!

We'll definitely be back.
